About Us

Merit Bank (formerly First State Bank of Goff) was
incorporated November 29, 1891. While our roots run deep
in Goff, our management and board of directors have strong
ties to the Kansas City area as well. Recognizing the growth
opportunities provided in this fast growing market, we
opened a loan production office in Overland Park, Kansas in
February 2008.

Our growth efforts in the Kansas City area are headed up by
three veteran bankers with strong ties to the market. Mark
Emley serves as President & CEO of the new office with
Dean Krouse acting as Executive Vice President. They are
joined by Steve Stoskopf, Vice Chairman and Tonya Fuchs,
Vice President. The staff has specialized skills in commercial
lending, especially those used for residential development
and home construction as well as commercial property
development. As long-term residents as well as bankers in
the metro area, all are very knowledgeable about the needs
of commercial clients in the Kansas City market.

Our company has a strong core group of investors and is
currently expanding its capital base through the addition of
qualified investors. Future plans call for a full-service
banking office by year-end 2009 with additional locations to
follow soon after.
